Thankful For the “Little” Things

As Thanksgiving approaches and you look back at this past year, you might find yourself being most grateful for any normalcy that may have returned to your daily life. Although we may not yet be out of the woods with COVID, we have made progress, and this has been reflected in our ability to carry on with our day-to-day lives.

Everyday things that we once took for granted started to return this year: kids going to school, commuters riding trains, people dining in restaurants, and so on. A few years ago, many of us could never have imagined feeling a sense of gratitude for these activities, but this year, they’re a reminder to be thankful for the little things which, when absent, suddenly became big things.

Indeed, the world grinding to a halt gave us a very different perspective, and it would behoove us to pause and reflect on that perspective for a bit.

What better time of year than Thanksgiving to take stock of all those “little things” you’re grateful for in life? Once you start to count them, you may discover your life is richer than you realized. If you’re gathering with family and friends this year, take some time to share what everyday things you’re most grateful for. And even if there are some you’re not yet able to do, enjoy the optimism that perhaps they’re not too far off in the future.

We at Coyle Financial Counsel sincerely hope that your Thanksgiving is filled with many things to be thankful for, both big and small. Until next time, enjoy.
